ZVUE! Personal Video Player Arrives for 2003 Holiday Shopping Season
Press Release
First Full-Color Personal Video Player Priced at Under $100 Will Hit Retail Stores in October
SAN FRANCISCO -- Personal, portable and priced to go, the ZVUE! personal video player (PVP) from HandHeld Entertainment leads the way this holiday season as the first full-color personal video player priced under $100. And it will arrive in retail stores across the United States just in time for the 2003 Holiday (Christmas) Season.
The hand-held ZVUE! can play videos, music videos and MP3s and features an
ultra-bright, 2.5-inch full-color screen that plays full-motion video and
displays digital images. About the size of a deck of playing cards, the ZVUE!
will fit right in the stockings of the "tween" (youth ages 8 to 12), teenage
(youth ages 13-19) and early twenty-something (ages 20 to 25) markets.
"Every kid is going to want to find a ZVUE! in their stocking or under the
tree this year when they find out they can watch video or listen to MP3s on
the first personal video player that they hold in the palm of their hand,"
said Nathan Schulhof, president and chief executive officer of HandHeld
Entertainment and the credited inventor of the MP3 player. "The ZVUE! has the
right combination of features, price and content to make it the ultimate,
'must-have' and 'must-give' device for the 2003 Holiday Season."
Initial licensed content for use with the ZVUE! PVP will include some of
the most recognizable branded entertainment names in the world. Various
titles will include animated and live-action programs, chart-topping music
videos, sports action videos and content from all areas of the entertainment
industry.
Content will be available on the postage stamp-sized ZCARD! Secure
Digital/MultiMediaCards (SD/MMCs) and will be priced starting at $5.99. The
ZCARD! will be available in capacities ranging from 8 Megabytes (MB) to 256MBs
and will offer high-quality video playback on the ZVUE! from eight minutes to
more than one-and-a-half hours of uninterrupted full-motion video.
The complete ZVUE! retail package includes a free ZCARD! video title,
earphones, ZVUE! video manager software and a quick start guide. A full line
of accessories is also available including AC and auto power adapters and a
protective travel case for storing ZCARDs!. Each ZVUE! includes one SD/MMC
slot, a high-performance media-enabled processor, a USB1.1 (Universal Serial
Bus) port, two earphone jacks, and the ability to play MP3 files. The ZVUE!
operates on four AA batteries and provides approximately eight to 10 hours of
viewing/listening time.
"There is no other PVP on the market this holiday season that matches the
ZVUE! PVP in terms of content, quality and price," Schulhof said. "You look
at any other PVP with an ultra-bright color screen and you're talking about
spending upwards of $400 to $600."
